Thursday and Friday March 2 and 3

Hey everyone. I want to say I am sorry for not posting on this blog Thursday. Man, it happens.

Here is what we need to work on today:

U2A5 Graphing and Reading Graphic Information

Graphs are used to visually represent information. Graphs emphasise material, and graphs can present material in a smaller space and with less repetition than words alone. 

Before answering any questions about the information in a graph, try to understand the basic elements of the graph.

Establish what type of graph you are studying (for example is it a bar graph, a line graph, or a circle or pie graph?).

Be certain to read the title of the graph and, from the title, learn information about the graph.

Read the labels on each line.

Make yourself familiar with the units in the graph. For example, a graph may be speaking about percentages, or kilogrammes, or dollars, or months, or a combination of these.Read the legend (if there is one).

Some questions about data can be answered by stating a fact directly from the graph. To answer these types of questions, study the graph carefully and gather information from it.

Other questions about the graph may require you to interpret information by identifying relationships and trends within the graph. 

      1. So when reading the article, were there any words you didn’t understand? Could you work out what they meant when you looked at the entire sentence or did you just ask the teacher what they word(s) meant?
2.     How often would you take notes on your phone? Why wouldn’t you take notes on your phone?
3.     So, after reading the article if you had to choose from one of the apps described, which one would you use to get your homework done?

       4. Is there one of the apps that you would hate to use?
